This North European country situated in Scandinavian Peninsula is crossed by the Scandinavian Alps. The maximum altitude is of 2469 m. In the western side the mountains loss high and form steep shores cut by fjords. In the mountainous areas there are lakes, glaciers and coniferous forest. The climate is not as harsh as expected due to the Gulf Stream, whose influence lead to a warmer climate comparing with other North European countries situated at the same latitude. Sights to see in Norway - Munkholmen in Trondheim – an old island fortress, accessible by boat. - Mack Beer Factory in Tromso – one of the most northern beer factories where they offer guided tours. - Romsdal Museum in Molde – a large biggest folkloric museum founded in 1912. The visitors can see here over 50 buildings from all over the country including sheds, smokehouses and a chapel. At Holmarka there are the museum stalls with horses, birds, sheep and rabbits. Tourists can assist at folkloric dances shows presented by children groups. - Art Museum (Bergen kunstmusem) - one of the largest art museums of Northern countries that includes Renaissance and contemporary art and some works of Edvard Munch - Skjernoy Island in Mandal – one of the most famous islands of Norway situated 10 km far from Mandal city. Visitors can admire here wonderful landscapes with quiet valleys, rocky shores and peaceful villages. People are friendly and welcoming. - Borrevannet Lake in Horten is a real national sanctuary, where 255 different birds’ species were founded till now. - Geiranger Geological Park is a unique park with water falls and a wonderful landscape that include statues of stories characters and geological exhibitions. - Ravnedalen in Kristiansand – A nice park perfect for picnics, surrounded by steep cliffs, having luxuriant gardens. During the summer here take place music concerts. - The Old Bergen (Gamle Bergen) in Bergen: This city was rebuilt with approximately 50 wooden houses of XVIII, XIX centuries and beginning of XX century. - Tromso Museum in Tromsa: a large museum that includes different exhibitions based on North theme. Tourists can see here Sami exhibits and religious art. - The Three Swords (Sverd i fjell) in Stavanger: this monument situated in downtown, commemorates the battle of Hafrsfjord that took place by the end of 800, when Harald Harfagre defeated his opponents and became the first king of Norway. - Norwey Folkloric Museum (Norsk Folkemuseum) in Oslo – a large open-air museum with buildings from different periods of Norway history. - Akershus Castle in Oslo – a middle age castle built in 1299 situated in city centre, home of two museums of military history of Norway. - Risor Aquarium in Risor: A salt water aquarium that includes over 100 different fish species. - Kjolfossen Waterfall in Aurland – can be admired from the Flam railway. - Norway Parliament (Stortinget) in Oslo can be visited in free guided tours. Museum (Vikingskiphus) in Oslo where visitors can see old Viking boats and other Viking artefacts. - Holmenkollen in Oslo – a ski trampoline opened in 1892, many times rebuilt. It offers a panoramic view of the city. - the sculptures park Vigeland in Oslo – a great recreation area with a lot of statues where people come to relax. - Statsraad Lehmkuhl in Bergen: a three masts boat built in 1914, very well preserved still used for short cruises of 5 hours, few times on a year. - Sjosanden Beach in Mandal – is probably the most famous among the ones that surround Mandal.
