  Exploring CataloniaTips for tourists

A successful holiday supposes many preparations and early booking for villas, apartments, vacation homes and transportation -  check availability and offers .

But you need too, to be informed about all the things connected with your travel.

If your choice for this vacation is Catalonia and Barcelona you will find below some useful (we hope) information to prepare your travel.

On the main airports of Catalonia (El Prat, Girona, Reus), land air -courses from all over the world. El Prat situated in Barcelona receives especially programmed air flies. Girona and Reu  handle with courses for the organised trips.

From Barcelona start railways and duty highways through the main cities of the area. Barcelona has a good system of pass to roads (ronda). The tunnel that crosses the Collserola hills makes the direct connection among the country centre highways and the city. The connections of the subways and suburban trains are very good but due to the fact that Catalonia is for the most part a mountain area, the busses and the cars rest the best choice for visiting the region and the rural touristic objectives.

  Airplane arrival

Barcelona is served by many international airlines. The National Spanish Company, Iberia, offers daily courses to Barcelona with starts from all the western European capitals. The airport offers connections with Eastern European countries.

British Airways offers daily courses to Barcelona with departure from Heathrow and Garwick

Delta Airlines offers direct courses to Barcelona with departure from SUA. Iberia operates a high number of flies with departure from SUA and Canada and regular flies from Montreal via Madrid. There are not direct flies between Spain and Australia.

The other international airports of Catalonia operate charter flies: Girona serves Costa Brava and Reus serves Costa Daurada.

The most common course between Madrid and Barcelona is Pont Aeri (Puente Aereo), operated by Iberia. This takes off every 15 minutes at rush hours and the passengers can buy tickets only 15 minutes before from an automatic. The fly takes 50 minutes.

At all the 3 terminals of the El Prat there are offices of the main international companies for car rentals.

Girona, too, has some major companies for car rentals.

There are local companies with attractive offers for services, but you have to scrutinise seriously these offers.

  Sea travel

In 1998, Grimaldi Group founded a new ferry service with fixed time table between Genoa and Barcelona. There are companies that offer transatlantic cruises between SUA and Barcelona or England and Barcelona.

  Travel to Balearic Islands

Barcelona is the main place of Spain from where you can start your trip to Balearic Islands. The air flies are operated by Iberia, Air Europa and Spainair. There is too a hydroplanes service that takes 3 hours and ferry courses that take 5 hours.

It is advisable to make early vacation bookings especially during the summer and rent villa for your ideal escape.

What ever will be your destination in this area you can find vacation rental by the mean of our associates’ site and ask them questions in order to obtain any clarification you need on this topic - check holiday booking
