Relax in Wien – Useful tips
If your vacation destination is Vienna, no matter the period of the year, you have not miss a visit to the old Vienna coffee houses, and thinking that you have a chat with famous personalities, that set one day on your seat, so check our villas for rent in Austria and prepair for your ideal escape. Since the first Viennese cafés, were opened in the XVIIth century, the coffee dinking became a religion here. One person goes to a Viennese café not for a quick coffee sip and for a mouthful of cake, but for having a chat, for changing “bons mots”, for reading papers, for playing chess, for having brilliant ideas, for showing what a cultivated person he is. But the most important reason to be here is the relaxation moment one could enjoy before the return in the quotidian agitation. For these reason, if the café, seems to be a little bit expensive, you know that you pay in fact the privilege of staying in a nice milieu, enjoying a unique and quiet atmosphere. To order a café, here, is a process more complicated than you ever thought. In order to have a good start in this process, you have first, to inspire credibility to the waiter! Rather than order a “Kaffee”, tray a “kleiner”, or a “grosser Brauner” (white small or large café), a “Kapuziner” (cream café sprinkled with cocoa or chocolate), or a Einspänner (black café with whipped cream ) or one of the many others varieties. Any good café, will be served to you very quickly together with a glass of water. Some of the Vienna coffee houses are important marks, as it is Landtmann Café , Central, Griensteidl, Hawelka and the well known Sacher. Others are less known, but its remain more authentic. There still exist a lot of them, but are colourless imitation of the culture of the early XX Century Viennese Cafés. The marvellous cafés, the rich offer of cakes and a large range of papers, are still available for clients, but the cafés, lost their old intellectual spirit. Their owners do not stay any more at the same marble tables, discussing and sometimes paving the road of the international politics, literature, medicine, psychoanalysis or music. They do not anymore plan revolutions when they are playing chess, they do not gossip about or they do not remove the impending hunger by saying to the waiters to serve food on credit. This very sophisticate form of popular culture dominated by Jews, was destroyed by Germans during the Second World War, and never recovered after that. But, at least from one point of view the Viennese cafés are in a better shape comparing with a hundred years ago: its are paradises and oasis of silence in contrast with the frenetic rhythm of outside life. There is wonderful to stay on a terrace, in summer, looking to the passers-by when you enjoy a special café. There is not a more pleasant way to end a Viennese vacation day than that - check vacation in Europe for more healthy information.
