  Aeronautical activities  

  Catalonia has some small airports, where people can rent airplanes or perform parachute jumps. There are clubs like Free Evolució that offer extreme sports for groups of 10-12 persons, including bungee jumping and balloon rides.   

  Birds watching

  The life of Catalonia birds presents an extraordinary attraction especially for the North European tourists. There are here two important wet areas: Delta de l’Ebre and Aiguamolls de l’Empordà where bird lovers can watch migratory birds such as

flamingo. The visitors benefit of guiding services and binoculars. The optimal moment for these activities is early in the morning or in the evening. The Pyrenees are home for many predatory species such as golden Bonelli eagles, griffon eagles and bearded eagles.

  Field sports   

  Sea fishing is for free but for river fishing you need a license released by the local tourist agencies. Noguera Pallaresa and Segre are excellent for trout fishing from

  March to August. 

  The hunting season is open from October to March. The licenses and short term rents are released by Patrimonio Natural in Barcelona or from a local hunting agency. 

  Mountain trips

  All the natural parks and reservations offer maps and suggestions for trips. The best areas next to Barcelona are Collserola hills and Chestnut trees forests of Montseny.

  The entire Catalonia is crossed by long routes GR -Gran Recorrido. Parc Nacional d’Aigüestortes and the Pyrenees Mountains have mountain shelters for the real mountain lovers. The tourists can get information at Centre Excursionista de Catalunya. Libreria Quera situated on Carrer de Petrixol of Barri Gótic, Barcelona, is the best bookshop for maps and travel guides. If you go for this type of trip do not forget the universal rules:  get information about the weather, wear proper clothes, take with you provisions and leave information about your route.

  Nautical sports

  Along of the 580 km of Catalonia coast, there are about 30 ports that offer the possibility for nautical sports. 

  Centre Municipal de Vela port Olimpic offer navigation lessons and a large range of crafts. 

  Costa Brava was always an ideal area for diving. The best place is next to Illes Medes in L’Estartit resort. 

  The city Sort on Riu Noguera Pallaresa, is a centre for nautical sports such as white water rafting and diving in under water caves. 

  Winter sports

  Pyrenees Mountains have a large offer for ski lovers in areas situated at only 2-3 hours far from Barcelona. There are around 20 areas with facilities for ski. 

  La Molina is proper for the no initiated ones. 

  Baquera – Beret is the place where the royal family practice this sport. Puigcerdá of Cerdanya that is accessible from 15 resorts of Catalonia, Andorra and France,  is a starting point for downhill runs and Northern Ski.
